Felton Construction Retirement — Equipment Auction
Presented by National Auction USA in partnership with Ophus Auctions. Bidding was hosted on the Ophus Auctions platform.
Charlie Felton built an entire Billings subdivision with his own two hands, and this lineup of equipment is how he did it. Every dozer, every water truck, every screen plant here was the heart and soul of that project — iron that Charlie relied on day in and day out to turn raw ground into finished lots.
When Charlie retired and moved to Missoula, it was time for this equipment to find its next home. Nine lots crossed the block in a strong online auction that drew active, competitive bidding — and the equipment found new owners near and far. This auction closed Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
It was presented by National Auction USA in partnership with Ophus Auctions, with bidding hosted on the Ophus platform. Two auction companies, one coordinated sale, one excellent result for the seller.

Where the Iron Went
From a Billings Subdivision to a Job Site in Nigeria
Charlie's 1980 Caterpillar D7G — the dozer that carved the streets and pads of an entire Billings subdivision — sold to a buyer overseas and was shipped to Nigeria. A machine that spent its working life in Yellowstone County is now moving ground on another continent.
That is the reach of a well-marketed online auction. When National Auction USA and Ophus Auctions put this equipment in front of the right buyers, the bidding wasn't limited to who could drive to Billings on sale day — it was open to serious buyers anywhere in the world. The result was a global field of competition and a strong outcome for a retiring Montana contractor.
Real estate, estates, and now heavy equipment — this is what National Auction USA does, and this is how far the right marketing can carry a Montana seller's assets.
